Container home living | Our first home in PNG!

In our previous post we shared that we have completely maxed out our accommodation at the campus already 🙈 What a wonderful problem to have though, right?!

Since the students and our full time volunteers moved in, a few weeks ago we have been living on the ship and building a container home down at the campus on the weekends. And when we say “home” we really mean a bedroom in a 20 foot container 🙂 But home is what you make it, and we are looking forward to the adventure it all!

What’s special about the container is that is came from New Zealand FULL of supplies (like every inch! Matt’s Dad was an expert packer!) including washing machines, fridges, furniture, kitchenware, linen, and so much more. It has been a wonderful blessing for us as we get started. It felt like Christmas opening it up!

Now that the supplies in the container are unpacked and have been put to good use, we have re-purposed the container for us to live in.

It now has walls, electrical, an air conditioner and new flooring. Check out the progress 👇

We will add in a very tiny bathroom eventually (the door you see above will be our bathroom door) and a window and side entrance (right now we are using the big heavy container doors!)

We are fundraising for the rest of the build at the moment as well as “part 2” which will include a second container as a kitchenette/living space. If you would like to contribute, we would love that! Click below to see how to donate.
